ESTABLISHED

With over 25 years of service, Milwaukee Teacher Education Center has transformed learning through effective teaching. Our teacher certification programs and professional learning services prepare educators through hands-on experiences.

EARN AS YOU-LEARN

Participants work in a school as the paid teacher-of-record. This model is ideal for participants who learn best through experience.

ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING

Participants in the MTEC certification programs receive one-on-one support from a highly qualified mentor who provides formative feedback, “coaches into practice,” while modeling effective teaching strategies that work best with diverse populations of students.

PARTNERSHIPS

Partnered with Mount Mary University for the Initial Teacher Certification program. A highly recognized Milwaukee-based institution of higher education, Mount Mary University espouses a commitment to urban teaching through a social justice lens.

ACCELERATED

Certification programs range in length from 6–16 mos.

URBAN FOCUS

Programs lead to a Wisconsin teaching license through DPI, with the focus on being able to effectively teach students living in urban areas. Gain and apply knowledge of the urban context to teaching and implement research-proven practices.
